Latin Name: Buxus Sempervirens

Box hedging is the timeless evergreen low formal edging hedge for a pathway, an entrance, a herb bed or any enclosed area. Very slow growing and beautiful. Can be subject to fungal disease. Wet warm humid conditions are ideal for fungal disease and in a wet August when spuds are getting blight, box plants won’t be happy. (Cant resist saying that unlike our ancestors this blight is not a matter of life and death). The Dutch have produced a product called top buxus to manage these problems if you can live with toxic sprays. Do not grow in shade. Open windy areas are best. Very good coastal plants.
