Strawberry – Christine (Bare Root)

A very early cropper two weeks ahead of Elsanta with large bright red berries with excellent flavour and good levels of sugar. Fruit quality is excellent with high skin strenth and little bruising. Strawberries can be grown in containers in a rich multi purpose compost or in the open ground. Plant 30 cm apart in weed free rich well drained fertile ground. Mulch in winter with organic matter and place straw or plastic under the developing trusses in May. Strawberries rank very highly(1540) in the ORAC or Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, a measure of the total anti oxidant power of foods developed by the United States Department of Agriculture .
