Product Description

A fast growing wildlife friendly native plant whose ‘lamb’s tails’ or catkins hanging from bare stems welcome in the spring. It is tolerant of heavy shade and grows at the margins of woodland where its fruits are loved by squirrels. The flexible hazel rods were traditionally used building and weaving. The large green leaves appear early and change to a lovely yellow in autumn. It is an excellent drought tolerant versatile plant in a mixed native or wildlife friendly hedge. (Gaeilge : Coll.
